What is
Preston Green Centre?
Preston Green Centre is an environmental Fairtrade community cafe and resource centre at 69 Friargate in Preston. We have registered P.G.C. as a not-for-profit workers’ co-operative and the centre is wholly volunteer lead and run. We operate through the day, between 10.30 and 4.30, as an internet-cafe/wholefood shop, but our mission is to encourage ‘bottom-up’ networking of green folk and to display on our walls ‘top-down’ information on green subjects. In the evenings the centre is available as a very low cost/free social space for community use. Ideas and volunteers sought! We welcome your ideas about what the Preston Green Centre could be like. If you had your own shop or community centre, what would you use it for? How might this little seed grow and evolve?
Named Beautiful Planet and run entirely by volunters, the centre has just opened its doors after several years of hard planning and several months of renovation work to get the premises ready for the public.
